As 2011 draws to a close, JVN would like to wish all our blog readers Happy Chanukah and an enjoyable Festive break and to our Christian readers, have a very Happy Christmas. We’ll be taking (a well-earned) break and blogposts will resume in January.
JVN celebrated Chanukah this year with a wonderful joint party to thank volunteers; kindly and generously hosted by BDO at their wonderful HQ in Baker Street. We held the party with two fantastic charities – Jewish Women’s Aid and René Cassin – who do wonderful work protecting the most vulnerable in our community both at home and abroad. Truly a party in the Chanukah spirit! We were entertained by the extremely talented singing Rabbi Danny Bergson of Pinner United Synagogue. We also enjoyed a truly moving speech by Baroness Sally Greengross, an Eshet Chayil of the highest degree who hit the nail right on the head when she said that the country just wouldn’t run without all its volunteers – from magistrates to befrienders – all of whom give, and critically get back, so very much from volunteering.
You can find some great pictures of the party on our Facebook page. If you haven’t already done so, get liking our Page, it’s a great way to keep bang up to date with last-minute news and volunteering opportunities. What’s not to Like?
