There are some people in the world who are never happy to sit back and have things done for them – they just have to make things happen !
Mathew Kayne is one of these people. He has been a resident at the Rela Goldhill Lodge in Limes Avenue, Golders Green for many years now but a few months ago he decided to take on a very brave challenge.
Despite being wheelchair bound, his goal was to ‘walk’ from one end of Golders Green to another in a specially designed walking frame where he is partly supported.
Last Monday at 11am family and many friends lined the street with balloons and refreshments to spur 29 year old Mathew on along the way. So far his efforts have more than paid off. He has raised £4000 to provide entertainment for the home to be enjoyed by all the residents.
He is an enormously popular character at Rela and also in Golders Green itself. He’s an inspiration to everyone he meets and has achieved many great things, one of them being a degree in computing from Middlesex University.
Stories of courage and commitment are what really inspire us at JVN . So if you wish to help Mathew add to his fundraising so far – click on www.justgiving.com/mathew-kayne
